Gary Witus has over 30 years of experience in defense systems acquisition and engineering. He was an active participant in several major defense acquisition programs including the Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System, the Tacit Rainbow Cruise Missile System, the M1A2 Abrams Main Battle Tank, the Target Acquisition Model Improvement Program, and the Marine Corps Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle. Dr. Witus received his BS in mathematics from the University of Michigan in 1975, his MS in industrial and operations engineering from the University of Michigan in 1978, and his PhD in industrial and manufacturing engineering from Wayne State University in 2002. After receiving his MS degree, he spent 3 years working with General William DePuy (Ret), a four-star general, former vice-chief of staff for the Army, and the first commander of the Army Training and Doctrine Command, on the use of models, simulations, and operations analysis in defense acquisition programs.
